I don’t know if I just spent too much time watching action movies when I was younger, but I used to be convinced that at some point, I was going to find myself stranded in the middle of the ocean and need to be able to tread water for a long time until I was rescued. So I practiced it a lot and actually could tread water for quite a while at one point.
Turns out I could have saved myself all of the efforts! Just by holding your arms and your back in the right way, you can float pretty effortlessly.
