Sometimes you can’t avoid an area with multiple cords in one spot. These can get tangled and messy, but they can also get very confusing. If you need to disconnect them sometimes, you will likely forget where they go the next time. If only there were a simple way to know what goes where at all times.

Try labeling your cords rather than starting over from scratch every time you disconnect a device. Take some colored tape, wrap a small bit around your cable, then write where the cord goes in permanent ink. You could even implement a color-coded system, where each device has its own color.
