Star Gazing Gone Awry
“It was that big planetary conjunction that happened a few years back. I wanted to view it, but it was very low on the horizon so I figured I’d go across the road to the big suburban park with my binoculars. It was only about 9pm, but the sun had gone down and it was very dark in the park because all the big boundary trees blocked out the light from the streetlights. I looked at the conjunction for maybe 5 minutes or less before I got hit with that skincrawling “get the f**k out of here” feeling and just bolted without thinking about it …
… I dropped my phone and hurriedly scrambled around the grass to find it, grabbed it and ran full speed back home. I have no idea why I felt that way, my brain probably spotted something I didn’t properly process and survival instinct took over. There wasn’t any big, dangerous animals around, this was just a relatively large recreational park in the middle of suburban Australia. That park also had a semi-dead tree that was perpetually burning on the inside. Like, literally for months and without smoke. It was a strange park, for sure.”
