Thanksgiving is super fun; there is a ton of delicious food, it’s often the first round of extended family time, and it’s the official start of the holiday season for a lot of us. If you happen to celebrate another holiday after Thanksgiving, then you know that the time between Thanksgiving and whatever else you may celebrate can be, well, weird for lack of a better term. It’s totally normal to feel stress during this time, and it can be difficult to unwind, so we thought we would share our best tips for decompressing during this odd, uneven time. Let’s get started!
Unplug
There are a number of ways you can go about unplugging, but the point is simply to put the technology down for a while and skip all of the social media updates. You can unplug by turning your phone off and putting it away in a cabinet, but if this is a bit too extreme for you (and we totally get it!) then maybe just consider logging out of social media for an extended period of time. This not only gives your eyes a break from a glaring screen but your mind a break from that instant gratification.

Fall Back Into a Routine
There’s no doubt you’ve fallen out of your typical daily routine, and you probably miss it more than you even realize. Daily routines have a ton of benefits including lowering stress and improving sleep, so go ahead, set all the alarms you need to because it’s routine time.
Do Something You Love
Whether that something is reading a book, cooking your favorite meal, or cozying up on the couch for a Netflix binge, do something that you love and make it a whole thing. For instance, if you love reading, snag a book from your shelf that you’ve been meaning to read, light your favorite scented candle, brew a fresh mug of coffee, and settle in for as long as you like.
Get Outside
Okay, obviously if it’s crazy cold where you are, just stay in where it’s warm; but for a lot of us the weather hasn’t severely changed yet, and getting outside for a small walk can do wonders for our mental health. So if everything is feeling a little all over the place, make sure you take a few minutes every day to get outside.
